Doha, Sunday 26th April, 2015 - Doha Festival City, the largest mixed-use complex currently under development in Qatar, has stepped up preparations to launch the most advanced leisure and entertainment zone in the Middle East.

In addition to its unparalleled retail, dining and hospitality offer, Doha Festival City will be home to four unique entertainment attractions, forming a one-of-a-kind family entertainment complex in the region. These include Juniverse, a space themed family edutainment park that provides a state-of-the-art role-playing experience for children. Virtuocity comprises cutting edge entertainment, incorporating a world first 200 seat e-Sport gaming arena, console lounges, and bespoke motorsport and aviation simulators. The Snow Park will be Qatar’s first indoor snow experience, offering thrilling rides within a visually stunning environment. The world-renowned Angry Birds Activity Park will feature popular Angry Birds characters who will play and engage with visitors as they journey through this exciting new theme park. Each project has been carefully conceptualized to target different age groups, which collectively offer a wholesome family experience.

“We are proud to offer one of the richest and most thrilling leisure and entertainment mixes in the region. With its new and unique concepts, the entertainment zone will be the ideal destination for visitors of all ages seeking adventure, leisure and recreational activities all year long,” says Kareem Shamma, CEO of BASREC - the owner and developer of Doha Festival City. The Family Entertainment Complex is being introduced to Qatar by Talal Bin Mohammed Trading, who have partnered with ADabisc Future Qatar and Rovio Entertainment Ltd to deliver all four components of the park. “We are very pleased to announce our partnership with Talal Bin Mohammed Trading and to launch the Family Entertainment Complex within Doha Festival City,” remarked Kareem Shamma.

ADabisc Future Qatar is the creator and franchisor of Juniverse and Virtuocity, while Talal Bin Mohammed Trading Group is the franchisor of the Snow Park component within the Family Entertainment Complex. Mr. Luay Darwish, Managing Director at ADabisc says: “We are proud to be the first company in Qatar to design three unique concepts for the most advanced family entertainment complex in the Middle East. These concepts are in line with the Qatar National Tourism Sector Strategy 2030, which was launched by QTA, and is expected to significantly contribute to the annual revenues generated by the country’s tourism sector. The FEC is a pioneering project that aims to transform the world of entertainment and video games, offering gaming enthusiasts a whole new platform to engage with.”

Each of the key components has been specifically designed to suit every demographic. Furthermore, the iconic Doha Festival City provides the perfect backdrop for the FEC, which together will position Qatar as a leading leisure and entertainment destination in the region. TBMT are confident that the project will meet the demands of the local market and play an extensive role in realizing the country’s strategic vision for 2030.

Doha Festival City is also marking the debut of a myriad of luxury brands and flagships stores in the Qatari market, starting with the successful opening of the first Ikea store in 2013. Its mall will be home to Qatar’s first Harvey Nichols department store, a Vox 4D cinemas complex, a full-size Monoprix hypermarket, among many other new offerings, fulfilling its promise to bring the best-in-class, as well as innovative brands and concepts to Qatar. With over 80 percent of the mall’s gross leasable area already committed, Doha Festival City is well on its way to securing its more than 550 retail, hospitality, leisure and entertainment brands as part of its tenant mix.

“Doha Festival City is set to be the largest multi-purpose destination in Qatar upon its completion in 2016. A whole new world of fun and pleasure awaits Doha,” says Kareem Shamma.
